ONTARIO’S A GREAT PLACE TO PLUG IN AND DRIVE

Ontario is ideally positioned to allow for a widespread adoption of Electric Vehicles (EV). Our energy system is clean and night-time charging allows drivers to take advantage of low time of use prices. Additionally, more than 85% of Ontario commuters travel less than 25km to get to work – making the switch to an EV even easier.

Plug’nDrive Ontario aims to make EVs a reality for everyone in Ontario through partnerships with government, electricity companies, car and infrastructure manufacturers, researchers, NGOs and other commercial partners. Plug’nDrive is dedicated to creating public awareness and promoting the environmental and economic benefits that EVs can bring to Ontario.

Why is it such a good time to start thinking about an EV?

  1. Gasoline is Expensive and Dirty
With gas prices hovering above $1.20 per litre today, there is little question that they will rise as speculation continues about the availability of future oil supplies. Additionally, the burning of gas is very bad for the environment: one litre of gas emits 2.3kg of CO2 into the atmosphere.
  2. Ontario’s Electricity is Clean and Affordable
Electric Vehicles that charge their batteries using Ontario’s electricity benefit from very low CO2 emissions as well as prices that are inexpensive, especially when charged at night or on weekends when electricity is cheaper.
  3. Electric Vehicle Incentive Program
Ontario consumers are eligible for a Provincial incentive of up to $8,500 towards the purchase or lease of a new plug-in hybrid electric or battery electric vehicle. To find out more about the program, its requirements and application please click here.
